JMU and a nursery

Long overdue, here is a picture of Kathryn sporting attire from our alma mater. Go Dukes!

Also posted below are a couple of pictures from her nursery. I've noticed that that is expected on blogs from those having babies, and I never posted pics of her nursery before she was born because, well, it wasn't finished when she was born! Oh well, she didn't seem to mind too much!

my attempt

This is my attempt at being a creative photographer. I liked the light and shadows that I saw, and this is what I came up with. I'm not sure if they really are cool pictures, or if they're just blurry black and whites. Either way, here they are.

The Office

Last week, Mike Newton was out of town, so we took advantage of the situation and moved his entire office into the bathroom!
(I wasn't there for the actual move because Kathryn was taking her nap.)

haircut

I got my hair cut a few weeks ago (when Nick was here). I went in, as usual, not really knowing what I wanted, and came out with it chopped! I didn't mean to get a "mom cut", per se, but it looks like that's what I ended up doing. It is easier to take care of though, because I can just wash it and go (which is what I wanted!).

5 months old!

I'm 5 months old today!! I'm growing more and more everyday. I still don't have any teeth, but am working really hard to get some (mommy thinks it will be soon with the way I am biting on everything). I'm still not sleeping through the night consistently, but I'm trying really hard! I'm also trying really hard to sit up, but I can't quite get the whole balance thing down yet. I like putting everything in my mouth now, especially mommy's fingers. I love grabbing daddy's face, and squeal while I'm riding in the car (I can make some pretty cool noises when I stick my tongue out, too!). These pictures were taken a few weeks ago, but they show how big I'm getting!

good news!!

Kathryn is working really hard to sleep through the night. On Friday night, she went to bed around 8:30, and I fed her before I went to bed at 11:00. She didn't wake up until 6:00 the next morning! And last night (Saturday), she went to bed around the same time, ate before I went to bed at 11:30, and slept until 7:00! Now, she did wake up around 3:30 or so, but instead of feeding her we gave her a paci, and she went back to sleep. Keep cheering her on, we're almost there!!!

Cookout

Two Saturdays ago we had a cookout with some of the kids from Acts 2 and their families. Here are some pictures from the day...we had lots of fun!
