in high hopes...

So, I came across this website (http://babycheapskate.blogspot.com/2008/07/giveaway-12-bumgenius-30-diapers.html) that is having a drawing to give away some cloth diapers, and thought it was worth a try. My friend Kim is going to try cloth diapering, and Tabitha is thinking about it too. So, I've been doing some research...but I'm scared to take the plunge and buy them if I don't end up using them (that's a lot of money to waste, in an attempt to be saving money!). But, I thought if I can get some for FREE, that'd be perfect for trying them out. So, wish me luck! :) Hopefully I'll have a good report for you to follow up!

end of the beach posts

Well, I finally got around to posting the rest of the beach pictures (well, at least for now!). I hope you enjoy them, and the stories. It was a crazy time, but "Goode" nonetheless! :) Check out my cousin Diana's blog for more pictures and stories (she does better at explaining all the craziness that went on!).

Horse videos

Because of the remote area of the beach that we were at, there are wild horses that live there too. We got to see them pretty much every day, wandering up next to the house, and sometimes down on the beach. Here's one day that they came running down over the dunes to the beach. You can see how close they got to people, even though they are still wild.

In this second video, you can see Kathryn running after the horses. She loves animals, and has no fear of them! She bends down at the end and tries to call them, like she does with dogs.

and a few more!

A few more pictures from the beach...before we head out again to our third and last beach vacation for the summer!

Nick and Joey in the hot tub.
All the cousins. This is a classic pose we've been doing since we were very little!

Crab feast! One of the Goode family traditions is to eat steamed crabs, pretty much whenever we get together (not necessarily just at the beach). So, on our last night, we got two bushels and went for it!

If you've never had steamed crabs, you're missing out. (And no, crab legs are not the same as steamed crabs!)

Kathryn in the car on the way home. Can you tell she was tired of riding in the car?

More beach!

This was a great idea, filling up the raft with water to make a little pool for Kathryn.
We drove down to the beach, and kind of had a tailgate each day!

This was where Kathryn slept...in a closet in the bathroom. Yup, her view whenever she woke up was the toilet (and the shower behind that). We kind of felt bad about it, but it worked well!

Kathryn playing in the pool with my cousin Diana. She had lots of fun with DD! Diana's gonna be such a great mom, and we can't wait to meet our new little cousin, hopefully soon!

Chillin' at the beach with Daddy!

Goode vacation

Yay, the pictures loaded!

Here's the "road" to the beach house. We stayed about 9 miles down the four-wheel-drive beach...quite an experience!
Here's the huge house, that held all 27 of us!

The siblings. These are 6 of the 8 siblings of my mom, in order of age. My mom and Aunt Sandy are missing.

The cousins, plus 3 spouses. This isn't quite all of the cousins, either. We have a big family!

The beach. This is what we do on the Goode family side of vacation...go to the beach all day long. I was kinda bummed that I couldn't really play in the water like I usually do (boogie boarding doesn't work well with pregnancy), but it was fun to go and hang out!

Sorry!!

So I apologize for not posting about the beach sooner, but you will have to wait a bit longer. It seems our internet is still not willing to work long enough to get the pictures loaded and a post written. But, to appease you for now, here is a picture of our family from last week (notice the ever-growing belly...30 weeks pregnant there!). Apparently, at 6:00 in the morning the internet works just fine, but I'd rather not have to be up at this time to post. So, I am heading back upstairs to go back to bed (yes, I've been awake for about 3 hours now...a different story altogether!). But keep checking in with us, and I promise to have some fun pictures up here soon!

Coming soon...

A post about our latest vacation adventure to the Outer Banks with my mom's side of the family (the Goode's). To give you a taste of what's coming: the week started out with a 9 mile drive down the beach during a lightning storm and pouring rain, followed by Nick falling off a pier while crabbing and my mom being airlifted by helicopter to the hospital, and topped off by being bumped by the car behind us on the way home (NOT a big deal at all...you can't even tell! But we thought it was funny nonetheless.) Anyway, we still had a great time amidst all the craziness of 25+ Goodes all in one house, and we're looking forward to posting lots of pictures and stories!

Beach #5-the Group

Here are some pictures of all or most of the group from 6-7-8. This completes the posts/pictures from that trip, just in time for our next one!

Beach #4-the beach

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALI!!!

Happy 12th Birthday to my sweet little sister, Ali! Her birthday was actually yesterday (July 3rd), but our internet wasn't working enough to post a picture. Ali, we love you and hope you had a great birthday!

Beach #3-the babies

Kathryn had a great time at the beach with all the babies. She was the oldest of 5! We were so excited to be able to meet the two newest members of the clan as well, Caedmon and Chase.

Kathryn got lots of practice being gentle with baby Chase.

We tried to gather all the kids together for a picture. It ended up in chaos with all of the babies crying, and all the mommies laughing!
