in daddy's shoes

so pretty!

Kathryn's Aunt Lindsay is quite the fashionable aunt, and has given Kathryn many adorable outfits, including this sweet dress. I couldn't decide which picture was best to put on the blog, so I put them all on!

a fun weekend

We had a fun weekend this past weekend up in Harrisonburg, visiting with friends and family. Kathryn got to meet Barb and Stefanie for the first time, as well as the Rogers family, and hang out with her good friend Noa again. She also got lots of time cuddling with everyone, and meeting even more people (too many to list them all!).

Here's Kathryn with Stef!With her Great-Grandmom!
And finally taking a nap with her Grandma after a long weekend!

It's a Girl!!!

So, for the first time this past Sunday, Kathryn sported her first dress. Yes, I know I'm bad for not putting a dress on her before, but it was so cold out and honestly, I'm not much of a girly, dress kinda girl, so I just never got to it for Kathryn. Anyway, she looked so sweet, so enjoy the pictures. Thanks to Betsy Neville for the beautiful dress!

Krisha!

The other weekend, we were blessed by a visit from Krisha! Since she lives in Orlando, it was a special thing that Kathryn was able to meet her already. We are looking forward to hopefully seeing her again next month when she's back in town for her sister's wedding. We love you Krishita!

details on kathryn's appointment

For those who care about this kind of thing, here are the details of Kathryn's 2 month check up (I realized I forgot to put it on last night's post!): she now weighs 11 lbs 14 oz and is now 23 inches long. That puts her in the 75th percentile for weight, length, and head size...on our way to a big girl! The doctor said everything looked good with her, and even gave me some good news. We've been working with Kathryn on sleeping in her crib. Some nights she does really well, others not so much (as in, the second we put her down she wakes up and cries, with that pattern continuing all night). Since Johnny was gone over the weekend, I really didn't think I could fight that fight all by myself all night long for both nights (sometimes it's every 15 minutes!). So, on Friday night, after we went through it for about an hour, I gave in and put her in her car seat to sleep. (She sleeps quite well in that.) Now, I do then put her car seat in her crib...I figure I'm gonna get her in her crib one way or another! That way, she at least is in the environment that we're trying to get her used to, even if it's in her car seat. Anyway, I kind of sheepishly told the doctor she slept in her car seat sometimes, figuring she'd tell me to try not to do that too often. However, she said it was totally fine, and that they sometimes recommended it for some babies. Well, that info would have been nice to know 2 months ago! But I am glad to know that at least for now. We'll still try to keep her in her crib mostly, but it's nice to know on the nights when nothing will work, we have a back up!

Also, I wanted to highlight a couple of other people's blogs to check out. Randy and Lindsay have some fun pictures of Kathryn on their blog, as well as pictures of Kathryn's new cousin, puppy Tiki! Josh and Tabitha have a picture of their little babies (twins!) on their blog, so check theirs often for updates as they grow and make their entrance into the world in September. The Glenns have been on some fun adventures lately. Ok, that's all for now...time to go play with my baby!

2 months old!

Kathryn is two months old today! Some of her latest favorite pasttimes now include cooing, trying to laugh (she hasn't quite mastered it yet), working her neck muscles, holding her head up when we pull her up by her arms, peeing, pooing, and spitting up at any and inopportune times, flailing and kicking her arms and legs when actively awake, keeping her mommy and daddy guessing at her sleeping habits, and of course being held any moment she can!

Beauty and Love

The past couple of weeks have been such sweet ones with Kathryn. I feel like I have really and truly fallen in love with my daughter. It's not that I didn't truly love her before. I did, a lot! I didn't have any problems with bonding or anything, and loved her and felt an amazing connection with her the minute I laid eyes on her. However, the past few weeks, I have simply been amazed by her. I find myself just stopping and watching her all the time, now. I pick her up and hold her just because I can't stand to keep my hands off of her. I find myself in praise of God for just how beautiful and amazing this little girl is, and I thank Him for the incredible privilege of knowing her and raising her and being loved by her.
