unintentional...

It was pure coincidence that we were wearing practically the same shirt the other day. I didn't realize it until someone asked if I did it on purpose. The funny thing is, it happens more than I even know!


As you can tell, we have so much fun together! But, I'll have to tell you all about that later, as she's now finishing breakfast and getting restless. So, check back soon for more pictures and what we've been up to!

updates!!!

The internet is finally working enough for some updates, at least right now! The other night Kathryn was getting sleepy, so she got a changing pad out of her bedroom, put it on the floor, and laid down on it. Of course, she started cheesing as soon as I got the camera, so she doesn't look that sleepy!

Mother-Daughter Banquet

Last Saturday I had the awesome opportunity to go to a Mother-Daughter Banquet at my mom's church in Harrisonburg. Ali and I both got to go, so it was a neat time to hang out as mother and daughters, and fun to get dressed up and have a nice meal and a fun time.

It's a...........

...another baby that is just like the older sister: very wiggly, hands up at the face, not cooperative with the ultrasound tech, but........


.....unlike the big sister in that it's a BOY!!!! We are choosing not to put the "money shot" on here for modesty purposes, but it was very obvious to all that he is a he. We are enjoying feeling him move more and more each day, and are thankful for a very healthy baby!

16 months old!

So, I keep wondering when I will stop doing Kathryn's "month" birthday posts, but it seems like she's still changing so much month to month that I want to keep you updated! So, even though it's a day early, here is what Kathryn is up to lately.

Getting into things. She particularly likes to sneak in the bathroom and get the toilet paper. This particular time we didn't catch her until late in the act, and instead of getting frustrated, we grabbed the camera!

Playing with her baby doll. She doesn't really play with it much, to be honest. It's usually just when I hand it to her. But she's learning, and will walk around with it for a minute or so, and hug it tight and rock it and say "Shhh..." She's also known to say "Shhh" when we're out in public and she hears a baby crying!


Climbing into baskets... She loves climbing into any basket she can, especially this one in the bathroom.

Carrying her purse around. It's one of the only glimpses we get of her being ever so slightly girly.

Getting into stuff, again. She likes to empty some of the drawers in the kitchen and play with the gadgets. Here she is brushing her hair with the basting brush.

Facing forward in the car. She likes being able to look out the window, although now gets really frustrated when she sees us eating or drinking something.

She is also displaying more toddler-like behaviors. She is known to throw tantrums over simply hearing the word "no". On the other hand, she shakes her head "no" many times a day, even when she means yes. I think it's just to be able to say no. Discipline is in full swing in our house these days, and it's HARD! She's a ton of fun, though, and continues to love to be outside. She loves to collect things in her bucket, dig with her rake and shovel, sweep with her broom, and walk around barking in hopes of seeing a dog and waving at anybody who passes. She also is always on the lookout for birds and airplanes, both of which she loves. As far as vocabulary, she's doing really good at saying "yes" when prompted, and "please" now too. Some new signs she has are: daddy, mommy, again, help, amen. I'm sure, as always, I'm missing a ton, but this post would be even longer than it is now, so I'll stop there. hungry?

So, we all know that Johnny loves food and will go to great lengths for good food (Kathryn takes after her daddy in this way!). Well, we had a new Chick-Fil-A open here in Roanoke on Thursday morning, and somehow Johnny found out about their First 100 program, in which the first 100 people in line as the doors open get a free combo meal every week for one year! Well, he jumped on that, got Andrew on board, and camped out for 24 hours to get his free food! It was lots of fun, for the guys and for us as we were able to go visit him and hang out for several hours. We only wish this existed when we were in college! Enjoy the pictures of his adventure. Also, I'll put some links at the bottom where you can see and hear some of his interviews (somehow every tv station here chose him to interview...yeah, he's one of those guys!).

Playing with Daddy

Kathryn has no fear...the higher, the better! (Sometimes Mommy has to look away...!)The other day, Johnny climbed one of our trees to get down a few dead branches. Kathryn was dying to get up there with him, so finally I lifted her up to him to sit in the tree with Daddy.

After she got down from the tree, she wanted to be a part of the clean up, so she dutifully dragged her big branch over to the pile.

Update on my Grandpa

Hey everybody, this is Kathryn...I just wanted to give a quick update on my Grandpa. The surgery went well, and he is back home now. He is in more pain than he'd like to be, but thinks it may be because the meds aren't turned up all the way, so when he goes back next week, they will probably make some adjustments to help him feel even better. Thanks for praying for him!

Pray for Dad...again!!

Please pray for my dad today...he is having surgery to have the permanent pain pump placed. It is an outpatient procedure, but still pretty major, as they are surgically placing the pump and medicine in him and into his spine. We are so thankful that he didn't have to wait until May or June to have this done, but instead were able to get him in at the last minute for today!
You can leave a comment for him to read when he gets home...I'm sure that it will encourage him greatly to know of everybody who's thinking of and praying for him! :)

last Saturday

So, these next few posts are dedicated to the "past", as in a few things from this past week. This first one is from last Saturday, when we went to the UVA Spring Game. The last time we went to a football game was, of course, last fall, so Kathryn was still baby-like. She had lots of fun this time, although was quite more active and up and around. She did sit some.


She liked clapping when everybody else did, or after the band finished their songs. The band was her favorite part about the afternoon, and she particularly loved when Aunt KK took her down really close to the band to see and hear them better. When she brought her back up, she kept singing "more" and pointing back down to them.

Sunday

Last Sunday, I dressed Kathryn in one of my shirts from when I was a baby. I thought she was super cute, of course. Do you remember me in this, mom?

yesterday

Yesterday was such a beautiful day...the first shorts day of the season! To commemorate, I took lots of pictures (I've really gotten into taking lots of pictures of our little girl again, if you can't tell).

After her nap, Kathryn's hair looked a little rough...


I was trying to capture how cute and big she looked in her little shorts and sandals. She insisted on making her smile/funny face...
